7Artisans's first autofocus lens. Although lenses in the 50mm F/1.8 class are models intended for photo enthusiasts rather than professionals, this lens has a pretty complex optical formula, consisting of 11 elements in 9 groups and including a lot of special elements. This could not but affect the weight (424-450g) and length (98-100mm) of the lens. Although the lens does not have a record-breaking speed, it is enough to shoot in low light conditions, as well as isolate the subject, smoothly blurring the background. When stopping down, 11 aperture blades will keep the out-of-focus highlight's a more rounded shape. The lens has an aperture ring with Auto-Exposure setting and a focus mode switch, which is also unusual for an amateur lens. The only thing missing for complete happiness is weather sealing and fluorine coating. Overall, this is a very interesting alternative to models from camera manufacturers, and definitely not a lumpy first attempt.
