Without any special elements in its optical formula, this lens is a budget, moderate wide-angle option for owners of 35mm mirrorless cameras and covers a wide range of subjects from landscapes and architecture to full / mid-body portraits. The latter genre is facilitated by the ultra fast speed of F/1.4, which makes possible a shallow depth of field and a smooth, eye-pleasing background blur. Night photography enthusiasts will also appreciate the maximum speed of this lens, as it does not require raising the ISO too high. When stopping down, 11 aperture blades will keep the out-of-focus highlight's a more rounded shape.
For a full-frame lens consisting of 10 elements, this 7 Artisans is quite compact at 55-57mm (depending on the mount). The moderate weight of 300-320g (depending on the mount) makes this lens portable and convenient for casual or travel photography, if you don't mind focusing manually.
